Top 10 gangster movies

Anybody who knows me can tell you that i am a huge movie buff. And yes, yes, i am i have a variety of movies that i enjoy and I am diverse with the genres i choose to watch.Genres such as action, science fiction and adventure/fantasy are some of my all time favorites to watch.I even have a rather decent size collection of my all-time favorites classics and more modern titles emerge from them.so I decided to do a list of my all time favorite gangster films, compelling films that achieved many awards. With a remarkable cast and characters that can pull impressive bravado.

I have a liking for drama movies such as these with lurking action. Some are all time classics, while other deserve more recognition. They capture the time period that was transcending. The people, the locations where very well adapted as well.So take out your pine stripe suit and Tommy gun cause these films are gangster quality.

The untouchables (1987)

With a really awe inspiring cast that featured the likes of Sean Connery, robert de niro, and Kevin costner it is no wonder the untouchables is such a great flick. Its a very entertaining drama that depicts the visually appealing city of chicago at its time.Robert de niro portrays al capone and its a really good film.Although there are some predictable scenes and I did not like the soundtrack much but it definitely worth a watch.

Carlito's way (1993)

Ah yes, carlito's way is a profound crime drama starring al pacino as ex mobster carlito brigante.Along side him is his dorky corrupt lawyer played by sean penn.I really like the screenplay for this movie and it's obvious with the likes of Brian de palm at the head of it.You can tell that carlito really tries to changes his life and spend the rest of it with his lover gail(penelope ann miller).I really like that he owned his own nightclub that was really cool.Although the story was really good I did not like the ending ( i won't spoil it if you have not watched it).

American Ganster(2007)

Frank lucas is portrayed by none other than denzel Washington.American gangster is an epic gangster crime drama that showcases frank as a businessman, whom looks after his family. He is a drug lord with a fine knowledge of heroin and whom he can trust to work with him.He does not mess around, i really feel they gave this movie all it could take to make an awesome gangster film. All the way up to the title its so spot on "american gangster".

Scarface (1983)

Truly a classic...scarface is written by Oliver stone, produced by Martin bregman, and directed by Brian de palma.I don't know about you ,but that sounds like a formula for an elaborate gangster movie. And even though its a remake from the 1932 scarface this one has its own merits.Alpacino portrays Tony montana and he rises to become a powerful drug kingpin.Just like the synopsis states he truly lived the American dream that so many sought after. The soundtrack is one for the books with hut after hit after hit.Scarface is still as popular now as it was when it was released.

Blood in blood out (1993)

Great film to watch, set in the 1970s 3 friends with unbreakable bonds like brothers follow their own destinies.I really like the character development in this one especially in miklo (Damian chapa) I feel his character cross the bar high. The screenplay, characters, and soundtrack is of excellence. It transcends from gang violence on the streets to unity of race once miklo is in the state penitentiary. one of those films, like others on this list that you can never get tired of watching.

Casino (1995)

Directed by martin scorsese, this movie is a masterpiece. With the likes of deniro playing a mafia underboss. He has success with running the casino but trouble comes in all forms.I feel like this one is atypical in comparison to other gangster movies since it revolves around the casino.

Boyz n the hood (1991)

This is a cult classic that came out in the early 90s and it is depicted accordingly. Its a very powerful drama among the struggles that happened in the hood; very riveting.Ice Cube, Cuba gooding jr, and Morris chestnut star in it.Many of my close friends and family have seen Boyz n the hood.

The godfather (1972)

The crime mob drama has deep roots that center around the Italian-american mafia. The godfather has an all star cast and is based on mario puzos novel.Call me crazy, but i use to Bing watch the godfather movie trilogy on a lengthy day.I consider myself to be a huge fan of the godfather. And Marlon Brando's role as Vito corleone is one for the ages.

Gangster squad (2013)

I decided to put this one on the list because of its storyline.Although some parts do seem a little cheesy and it reminds me alot like the untouchables. There are other elements that make gangster squad unique and awesome.
(Ryan gosling)Jerry wooters and John o' mara(Josh brolin) form a secret group to bring down (sean penn)mickey cohen.point to self the gun fight that culminated in the climax was well done.

              Goodfellas (1990)

Wow, Goodfellas is just grandiose and a powerful movie with alot of drama in it.You see henry played by Ray liotta as he goes up the ranks of the italian-american mafia. He lives a life with luxury and pleasure from doing what he does best.Be a mobster and have allies that's what makes life great.Unfortunately through mistakes, addiction and other problems henry falls the ladder. But saving himself from certain jail time he resorts to breaking down the mafia.
